Chapters under the Umbrella of the Southeast Kentucky Sheep Producers Association

The Southeast Kentucky Sheep Producers Association (SEKSPA) is a 501c3 non-profit made up of sheep farm volunteers who are working to: (1) restore and grow the sheep industry in the 54-Appalachian counties of Kentucky; (2) improve the genetics of the sheep in our region; and, (3) promote lamb consumption in eastern and southeastern Kentucky and beyond. SEKSPA was created to provide leadership, unity, resources, and the transfer of information within the sheep industry in our region. In our first four years of operation, SEKSPA has grown to over 500 members and supporters across the mountain counties. In 2023, we had 18 in-person educational meetings, workshops, field days, and events and served over 600 lamb dinners to our members.

Several smaller and place-based sheep and wool clubs, groups and associations in our region have been formed to serve local sheep producers with similar goals of SEKSPA. Without infringing on the autonomy of local groups, all eastern and southeastern Kentucky sheep farmers can be united under one umbrella as SEKSPA Chapters.

This unity will help create a robust sheep industry in our region, putting SEKSPA in a stronger position to advocate for, and better serve, the sheep farmers in the mountains.

If you are interested in forming or joining a SEKSPA Chapter, reach out to SEKSPA at pangel9491@gmail.com, or call/text 606-312-5264, for details and to discuss the many benefits from joining a dynamic network of sheep and wool producers in Appalachia Kentucky! Here are the SEKSPA’s Chapters:
